Natalia Larangeira, back

For regulars, Natalia Larangeira is not a new presence. In fact, at the end of last year we had fun in our country as a guest teacher, with a solo performance by the pianist Marcela Roggeri.

There, Natalia reviewed some aspects of her career. “I don’t come from a family of musicians. My influence was my grandfather, he liked orchestras very much and when I heard them I was enchanted by the sound. As a first instrument I asked for a piano and I started in a conservatory in a very small city of San Paolo called Osasco “, he said to the portal Classical music BA.

“I studied there until the age of 16, the last three years have been decisive because I had to write monthly notes on different concerts. So every month my family took me to the theater to see a concert, opera or ballet. That’s where my vocation was born, my desire to be a director… ”.

On that occasion, together with the Brazilian director, Marcela Roggeri distinguished herself in the Concerto 12 of the Buenos Aires Philharmonic Orchestra Subscription.

The initial spark, at 16 …

At the age of 16 I directed all my efforts to become a conductor, obviously continuing with the piano as an instrument – follow its evolution -. After this I started the Faculty of Management. In Brazil we have many winter and summer festivals. I tried to take advantage of all the opportunities I had to direct, do courses, masterclasses “.

The influence of Ligia Amadio

“I tried to do everything, every month I traveled to Brazil to take lessons, I met many teachers. One of my biggest influences was the teacher Ligia Amadio”, Larangeira points out, and tells their common experience. at the third International Symposium of Female Directors.

“I was able to participate in all three editions: in Brazil, in Montevideo and the last one online. I talked about my experience as a young director and creator of a project in my city called Asociación Camerata Filarmónica de Indaiatuba in my city. This is a great project, today we have 400 students and already seven years of work “.

“In the Association we have a professional string orchestra where the violinists have a string quartet and give lessons for the students’ orchestra”, he explains. that students are advancing and at the same time reaching a certain level that they begin to teach lessons to others. “

“I declare myself Wagnerian!”

“I think mine is a repertoire of phases,” says the director. “I started directing because I really like opera, I am a person who lives for opera and for the programmatic symphonic repertoire. I am fascinated by the repertoire from the end of the 19th century to the end of the 20th century. But I started directing because I love Wagner, I declare myself Wagnerian! “, He laughs.

“It is a repertoire that I pursue, it is a project that is half megalomaniac for all that it implies. I have directed works by Wagner, symphonies, the Idyll of Siegfried, some scenes … but the opera is a life project. Then I have another phase, like any opera lover, which is Puccini“, he clarifies.

And by the way, he anticipated future projects: “Now I’m doing a master’s degree in directing in Brazil on opera in the Renaissance. I will direct the first opera composed by a woman, The liberation of Ruggiero from the island of Alcina, by Francesca Caccini.
