Almost 20 years after his last film as a director, Kevin Costner is preparing to return behind the camera to film a tetralogy set in the Wild West. Title Horizonthis series of four feature films will contrast with most works of the genre since it will highlight the role played by women during the conquest of the American West.

The filming of the first part of Horizon will start at the end of August. The other three parts will be shot simultaneously starting in April 2023. Each of the films will have a running time of approximately 2h45, and they will be broadcast over a period of one year.

Horizon however, is not likely to benefit from a theatrical release. Kevin Costner speaks rather of a event TV movie.

The tetralogy will include some 170 speaking roles. The plot, which pits colonizing forces against Native Americans, will span 15 years.

With HorizonKevin Costner reconnects with his love of the western, a genre he explored in various ways in the three films he made: the wild west (2004), The postman (1997), and of course He dances with wolves (1990), a monster success which allowed him to collect the Oscar for best director.

He is currently working on the 5e series season Yellowstonean ultra-popular modern western in which he plays John Dutton, the owner of the largest ranch in the United States.
