The 15,199,267 spectators which went in cinemas all over the country from January 1 to Thursday June 30, testify that the recovery of cinemas after the pandemic exists, but it is slow.
Unlike other mass shows, such as theater and concerts, where the need for presence is fundamental, streaming had already played against cinema. And, after the confinement in March 2020, which has increased, cinemas have been closed for too long and today the films that work, the ones that attract a large audience, are, as always, the Hollywood tanks.
Which, compared to the pre-pandemic phase, are doing well, but it’s not for throwing popcorn in the sky (nor, on the ground).
Following, the Top Ten, with data from the Ultracine company. And then more analysis.

Looking at the Top 20, 18 films originate from the United States (some in co-production). Only in position 17 is there a Japanese (Jujutsu Kaisen 0) and an Argentine closes the Top 20, Echoes of a crimewhich does not reach 6 figures, with 98,170 tickets sold.
Six films exceeded one million admissions (Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madness, Jurassic world: domination, Spider-Man: There is no way to go home -which debuted in December 2021), Sonic 2 Y Light year. What do they have in common? Which are sequels, the first four, and belong to a saga, the fifth, which is a spin-off of toy story.
And, which is not new, few titles are the ones that bring the most viewers together. Those six films, out of a total of 304 that at one point were on the bill in Argentine cinemas, attracted 8,996,073 spectators, 60% of the total.
In the Top 10 there are three animated films (Sonic 2 combines actors with animation, Light year Y song 2), hardly anyone else enters (the bads was eleventh) Charmpremiered in November, with viewers seeing it this 2022 was the 14th, and a sixth is an anime (Jujutsu Kaisen 0ranked 17).
Of the 20 most viewed, five were ATP, with a recommendation legend accompanying a major, or with reservations, and one of these was Top Gun Maverick.
The ranking of national productions
In percentage terms, only 2.20% of the public decided to go and see an Argentine production. There were 153 national titles on the bill in these first six months, which brought in 334,764 admissions.
No one reached 100,000 spectators, even if Diego Peretti (Echoes of a crime), Leonardo Sbaraglia (Today the world is fixed), Nicolas Francella (in the viewfinder) or Natalia Oreiro (The Reds) drove their casts.
As for viewers’ preference for attending certain movie complexes, Hoyts Abasto (CABA), Hoyts Unicenter (Martínez in Greater Buenos Aires), and Showcase Rosario (Santa Fe) were the most popular.
And compared to the areas of the country where there was a greater turnout in cinemas, it was the Greater Buenos Aires (5,226,772 tickets sold on its 223 screens) that brought the most audiences.
It was followed by the city of Buenos Aires (2,809,417 in 124 screens), the province of Buenos Aires (1,307,772, in 119), Córdoba (1,256,129, in 85) and Santa Fe (1,057,992, in 68 ). , which are the only districts with more than a million tickets sold, because Mendoza, which is sixth, had 663,176 spectators on its 39 screens.
At the other extreme, the provinces with fewer spectators were La Pampa (has two halls and two halls, with 53,949 spectators), Santa Cruz (8 halls, 10 halls, 64,341 spectators) and Tierra del Fuego (2 halls, 6 halls, 81,093 attendance).
And there is already an Argentine province in which, if you want to go to the cinema, there is no possibility, because there are no more. It is Formosa.
