“IS a metaphor about who feels undervalued“describes actress Joey King of her role in this fantastic film which will debut in Europe this weekend on Hulu and Disney +.
The studio tasked with immortalizing stories like Snow White or Cinderella turned their stories upside down with a film starring a princess who could very well have come from a Quentin Tarantino take or the saga John Wick.
Against patriarchal mandates

What is the name of the princess?
The curious thing is that in its hour and a half of footage you can never hear the name of this particular princessa detail that the actress in charge of bringing the character to life says “she doesn’t need it”.

The director of the film, Le-Van Kiet, explains more about this decision.
“When we finished writing the film we tried to find a name, but we realized we had invested so much in creating the unique aura it has that we realized that no name would do it justice“, defends Kiet, known for shooting Fury (2019), the highest-grossing film in Vietnam history.
Inspirations for an unusual woman
The director insists that he was inspired by other recent stories such as courageous Y tangledthat has already changed the basis of the stories of the princesses, but “I wanted to do something completely different“.
Here because, Princess it stands out for its long shots, choreographed fights and impossible fights with weapons of all kindsfrom hairpins and pearls to vegetables that turn out to be more violent than one might think if they fall into the hands of a willing person.
“There is a point of absurdity and a point of exaggeration – the director defends himself -. (…) He has the necessary humor not to take him very seriously, but at the same time empathize with the character and have fun“.
