Tomorrow Thursday 7 July is Ringo Starr’s 82nd birthday. To celebrate him, together with his wife Barbara Starkey, his family and friends, he organized a very special event that revolves around his songs and his usual Peace & Love slogan.

Everyone will gather in Los Angeles for the birthday meeting, where at noon they will utter the traditional exclamation “Peace and love!”. But there will be something new: the International Space Station will amplify the message not only to the entire planet, but also to the Earth’s orbit and to the stars.

At 12 noon, Ringo will signal the Artemis Mission Control Center in Houston, Texas to broadcast his message and music to the International Space Station, which includes the launch of the theme song. Let’s change the world and an instrumental section called song of the starspresumably the music the stars made when he was born, according to Artemis.

The idea is that his message of peace and love travels across many countries on Earth and travels to distant stars.

Friends

Celebration guests include current members of his All Starrs Band including Steve Lukather, Edgar Winter, Colin Hay, Warren Ham and Gregg Bissonette, as well as friends such as Benmont Tench, Jim Keltner, Richard Marx, Matt Sorum, Ed Begley Jr, Linda Perry, Diane Warren, Roy Jr and Alex Orbison.

The party around the world

Throughout the day, based on the time change in each country, there will be messages from fans and friends from around the world at noon. So far there are 26, starting with Sydney (Australia), where today’s Karl Stefanovic has the first Peace & Love event of the day.

Then the day continues with messages from Tokyo and Osaka (Japan), Moscow (Russia), Athens (Greece), Jerusalem (Israel), Ticino (Switzerland), Halle (Germany), Barcelona and Madrid (Spain), Venice (Italy) , London, England), Buenos Aires and Chascomus (Argentina), San Pablo (Brazil), Lima (Peru), Panama City, San Salvador (El Salvador), Guatemala City, San José (Costa Rica) and several cities in the United States.

There they will connect New York, the Interlochen Center for the Arts (Michigan), the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum (Cleveland, Ohio), the University of Marharshi (Iowa) and Los Angeles (California).

Ringo invited fans to join him in person, however this year the Los Angeles meeting could not be made public to comply with city ordinances.

This year there will also be the first “Peace and Love” celebration in South Africa, where people from Yeoville, Johannesburg will gather at noon and attend Friday Hartley Hostel.

The advantage

Starting today and running until Sunday 10th, the Beatles channel on SiriusXM satellite radio will broadcast special music programs. And the Starbuck chain will play a Ringo playlist in more than 10,000 U.S. locations, as well as deliver a message of peace and love at noon.

As Ringo said on his Instagram account: “Peace and love at noon, that’s as good as you want for me. That’s it, brothers and sisters. It is so. Peace and love”.
