The American actress Julianne Moore will preside over the jury of the 79th edition of the Venice Film Festival, which will take place from August 31 to September 10 at the famous Lido of the City of the Doges, the Mostra announced this Friday.
The 61-year-old actress, winner of the Oscar for Best Actress in 2015 for still alicewill be surrounded by the Argentine directors Mariano Cohn, the Spanish Rodrigo Sorogoyen and the Italian Leonardo Di Costanzo, the French director Audrey Diwan, Golden Lion in 2021 for The eventIranian actress Leila Hatami, as well as Nobel Prize winner for literature Kazuo Ishiguro, organizers said in a statement.
A remarkable career
The festival recalls the prestigious career of Julianne Moore, the first American to have won, in addition to her Oscar, acting awards at the three major festivals: at Cannes in 2014 for maps to the starsin Berlin in 2003 to The hours and finally in Venice in 2002 to far from paradise.
The members of the jury will have to “award the Golden Lion to the best film and the other official prizes” of the Mostra, dean of film festivals.
