“Jack in the Box”: J-Hope’s first solo steps during BTS hiatus

In this album, based on the Greek myth of Pandora’s box, the 28-year-old South Korean artist explores the darkest facets of his personality.

Fans still reeling from K-pop group BTS’s hiatus can now feel comfortable. J-Hope, one of the seven singers in the South Korean band, released his first album on Friday, Jack in the box.

Composed of ten titles, This album is the first project that sees the light since the announcement, made last June, by BTS to temporarily suspend their activity as a group to dedicate themselves to their respective careers.

Greek mythology

As J-Hope explains from the first titles of his album, cat in the box Explore the Greek myth of Pandora’s Box, a box containing all of humanity’s ills, opened by Pandora.

Throughout the songs, the 28-year-old artist evokes his own demons and shows new darker facets of his personality: his greed in his professional life or his anxiety about the future.

J-Hope is the first member of BTS to release a solo album. He will also be the first South Korean artist to headline the US Lollapalooza festival in Chicago on July 31 for the music event’s closing night.
