Screenwriter and star of rocky (1976) and its five sequels, Sylvester Stallone still does not own -according to him- any part of this successful franchise. On Instagram, the American actor summoned the producer of the saga, Irwin Winkler, on Sunday to return “what remains of the rights” to the films.
“After Irwin controlled rocky for more than 47 years, and now CreedI’d really like to get at least a little bit of what’s left of my rights back, before he passes it on to his children alone. I think it would be a fair gesture from this 93-year-old gentleman,” Sylvester Stallone wrote in the caption of his email.
He continues: “It’s a painful subject that eats at my soul, because I want to leave a trace of Rocky for my children…”
point of contention
The rights to the Rocky franchise have long been a point of contention between Sylvester Stallone and the producer. Back in 2019, Irwin Winkler was surprised to learn that the actor was not happy with the role he had received.
In an interview with the American media. variety Sylvester Stallone had confided at the time that he had received nearly $2.5 million from the first part of rocky but he maintained that he had been injured in the amount of his rights. In the same article, a source also revealed that the actor had received more than $10 million in Creeda derivative of rockyand its sequel, released in 2018.
One third of Creed is scheduled for next November. This is the first project of the franchise. rocky in which Sylvester Stallone will not appear. However, he will serve as producer alongside Irwin Winkler.
