The Girondin Flots Bleus campsite, famous for the saga Camping by Fabien Onteniente, no longer exists. The land, like that of the other campsites surrounding the Dune du Pilat in the town of La Teste-de-Buch, has been devastated by the fires that have ravaged the department for a week. The director and Franck Dubosc, the main actor in this trilogy of films released between 2006 and 2016, were moved on social networks.
On Monday, Fabien Onteniente had posted a photo in the company of his favorite actor from Biscarrosse, from which wisps of smoke could be seen: “Meeting with friends… in this place that is so dear to us,” he had written. “Strength and support to the firefighters. Thoughts to the inhabitants.” The same day he confided his sadness to the RTL antenna:
“I am devastated by this tragedy.” (And) not only for the Flots Bleus campsite, as there are five campsites around it. There’s a friend, who was right next door, who was crying this afternoon.
“Today Patrick is crying”
Franck Dubosc, who plays Patrick Chirac in the trilogy, posted a photo from the shoot, along with a message: “Today Patrick is crying… To all my camper, Girondin and firefighter friends.” “We will rebuild our camp!”
Two fires broke out last Tuesday in Gironde, one in Landiras, south of Bordeaux, the other in La Teste-de-Buch, in the Bassin d’Arcachon. Seven days later, and despite the mobilization of firefighters, the fires continue to spread and 19,300 hectares have already been destroyed. 32,300 people were evacuated. The evacuation of the La Dune – Les Flots bleus campsite took place on July 13, as reported by the parisian:
“Everything happened calmly, around 3 am, all the employees of the camp participated”, Corinne Hardouin, head of reception of the place, explains daily. “There was no immediate danger, so don’t panic, there was a general call. We were attended by firefighters and gendarmes.”
