The British group performed in Lyon on Tuesday before 50,000 people under 39 degrees. The group led by Mick Jagger is currently on tour to celebrate its 60th anniversary.

“It’s stronger than any heat!” exclaimed a follower of the Rolling Stones from Lyon on Tuesday, minutes before their concert at Groupama Stadium. The evening proved him right: despite the suffocating 39 degrees of the evening, there were nearly 50,000 who came to applaud the British team.

The Rolling Stones hadn’t performed in France for four years. Their last appointment in France dates back to 2018 when they burned down the stage of the legendary Vélodrome stadium in Marseille for their “No Filter Tour”.

The Parisian date is approaching

The group hit the road again this summer to celebrate their 60th anniversary. If Charlie Watts is no longer there, the tireless Mick Jagger, the electric Keith Richards and the massive Ron Wood have raised the temperature to the sound of the big hits.

“I first saw them 27 years ago,” one fan told BFMTV. “I thought it would be the last time I would see them, because I thought they were too old already.”

And yet, despite an average age of 77, the Rolling Stones proved last night that they haven’t lost any of their energy. A second concert in France is scheduled for this Saturday, this time at the Longchamps Racecourse in Paris.
