The San Juan District Court filed a lawsuit against the singer on Thursday Ricky Martinwho his nephew Dennis Yadiel Sánchez had sued and obtained a precautionary order.
The artist’s representative in Puerto Rico, Helga García, of Perfect Partners studio, confirmed the court’s decision to the Efe news agency.
A press conference is planned for his legal team to provide more details on the hearing, in which Ricky Martin virtually appeared.
Against the singer weighed a protection order based on law 54, which protects victims of domestic violence, which was granted ex parte on July 2, at the request of his nephew.
The 21-year-old said he had been in a romantic relationship with Ricky Martin for seven months and that, after the breakup, his uncle intimidated him and approached his home on several occasions.
The lawyer Marcos Rivera explained to Efe at the gates of the court that the first ex parte order issued against the singer was “provisional”.
“They have issued it provisionally, until Ricky Martin is heard, the order will not become permanent for the time set by the court,” said the lawyer, candidate for president of the Puerto Rico Bar Association.
The interpreter of great musical hits such as “La copa de la vida”, “La mordidita” and “Livin ‘la Vida Loca” denied the facts reported by his nephew, as did his legal team.
Ricky Martin assured at the time on social networks that these accusations were “totally false” and that he would face the judicial process “with the responsibility” that characterizes him.
The media case attracted numerous local and foreign journalists, including Efe, who stood guard in front of the court today despite the inclement rain.
It is worth mentioning that Dennis Yadiel Sánchez also reported last Tuesday that he had received calls with death threats if he spoke at the hearing, facts that are under investigation by the police.
