Comic-Con takes airs of ‘Game of Thrones’ thanks to its prequel

“It’s quite exciting. We’re always nervous at first, because these books, these characters are like my children,” the 73-year-old writer said. “We wonder how they are going to be treated, are you going to recognize them when they come back to you?” But he noted, “I was very, very lucky on this one…I saw nine of the ten episodes and that’s pretty amazing.”

In this prequel, “GOT” fans will discover the ancestors of the heroes of the eight seasons of the HBO series broadcast between 2011 and 2019. In particular, those of Daenerys Targaryen.

The cast includes Emma D’Arcy (Travelling passion), Matt Smith (doctor who, The crown), Rhys Ifans (the king’s man, Spiderman) and Olivia Cooke (motel, ready player one) or even Paddy Considine.

“The series begins at the height of the dynasty, then at the pinnacle of power, wealth and influence,” explained screenwriter Ryan Condal. “They have the most dragons they’ll ever have and that’s right before they start to lose their shine.”

According to him, each of the 17 dragons will have its own physical and character characteristics.

Some new clips were revealed during the Comic-Con festival in San Diego, Southern California, but expectations are high for this spin-off.

Especially since the final season of GOT disappointed critics and fans alike for having a remarkably unsatisfying ending. In eight seasons, the series has received countless awards, including a record 59 Emmys.

George RR Martin joked that the new series could spark a fan war “next year”.

Olivia Cooke, who plays Alicent Hightower in the spinoff, said she felt “strange” trying to take on “such a giant.”

“We feel intense pressure to give you what you want, but also to do something different and put our own spin on it,” he explained.

Comic-Con is taking place this year at its full capacity of 130,000 people, for the first time in three years. The festival was held remotely during the pandemic.
