The son of peasants from Antioquia, he began writing verses and other compositions at a very young age while earning a living as a mechanic and farmer. The first song he released, at the age of 16 when he was in school, was called “La casita Vieja”.
As he himself explained, his well-known nickname was given to him by announcer Nelson Moreno Holguín, when he was promoting his album called “King of Spite” in 1992. Since then, he has used it for the rest of his career.
