The rest of the group’s tour was canceled and an investigation was opened to try to determine the causes of the tragedy.

“I contacted the Secretary of Culture, Sports and Tourism and asked the Department of Recreation and Cultural Services, as well as the relevant departments, to fully investigate the incident and review the safety requirements for similar performance activities to protect the safety of artists, staff and the public,” Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee said.

According to the Secretary of Culture, the fall was due to the breaking of a cable that held the screen.

Concert organizers apologized on Facebook, sending their “deepest condolences” to those injured and offering a refund to those who attended the concert.
