Metallica Pays Tribute to ‘Stranger Things’ In Lollapalooza Concert

While closing his program with the title “Master of Puppets”, repopularized thanks to the Netflix series, the metal band released an excerpt from a scene from season 4 where the tube sounds.

Metallica wanted to thank Strange things for the publicity stunt offered to his music in the fourth season of the Netflix series. At the end of their concert at Chicago’s Lollapalooza festival this Thursday, the legendary metal band performed their piece Puppeteerairing at the same time an excerpt from the Duffer Brothers series.

In these images, taken from the last episode of the new season of Strange thingsEddie Munson’s character plays this 1986 title on guitar to counter the monsters attacking the town of Hawkins.

“It’s a story I would tell my grandchildren”

Shortly before the show, Joseph Quinn, who plays Eddie Munson, was entitled to an exclusive backstage meeting with Metallica. In full rehearsal, the members of the group proposed the actor in particular to interpret Puppeteer with them before offering him an electric guitar -identical to Eddie’s in the series- signed by the rockers.

During this exchange, filmed and broadcast by Netflix, James Hetfield, the singer of the metal formation, confesses to the actor that he is a fan of Strange things from the first season. “My children are also fans. It is an experience that has brought us together a lot,” she says in the video.

“The opportunity to play with the most iconic metal band of all time doesn’t come along every day. It’s a story I would tell my grandchildren,” says Joseph Quinn in the video streamed by Netflix.

At the instance of up that hill by Kate Bush Puppeteer Metallica’s stream count has skyrocketed since its use in season four. Strange things. Released in 1986, the track entered the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the first time and the UK Top 100 Singles chart.
