Dave Grohl will perform at a benefit concert for war veterans

Dave Grohl will appear as the fourth member of the James Gang, with Joe Walsh on vocals and guitar, drummer Jim Fox and bassist Dale Peters, marking the first time the band has played together in more than 15 years.

The show, called One last lapwas announced as part of Walsh’s annual VetsAid concert and the presence of the Foo Fighters frontman is another step in the comeback after the tragic death of his band’s drummer, Taylor Hawkins.

The show, which will take place on November 13 at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio, will also contain sets of Nine Inch Nails, Black Keys and Breeders. All proceeds will go directly to veteran charities.

This year’s line-up shines a spotlight on Ohio musicians: James Gang and NIN (both raised in Cleveland); Akron is the Black Keys, the Dayton ranchers and finally Grohl, born in Warren. Cleveland-born comedian Drew Carey will host the annual event for the third time.

Grohl slowly returned to the stage after the tragic death of his bandmate, Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins. Hawkins died unexpectedly at the age of 50 during one of the band’s stops in Bogotá, Colombia earlier this year.

The most visible performance took place a few weeks ago, at the British festival of Glastonbury, as a special guest of Paul McCartneynext to another star Bruce Springsteen nothing less. Brian May and Roger Taylor of Queen, Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson of Rush, Josh Homme, leader of Queens of the Stone Age, Mark Ronson, Stewart Copeland of Police, Wolfgang Van Halen, Chris Chaney of Jane’s Addiction, veteran jazz-rock drummer Omar Hakim; Additionally, the Chevy Metal cover band will play on both shows.

Founded in 2017 by Walsh, VetsAid aims to raise money for veteran groups across the country. To date, the organization has raised funds with the help of performances by Keith Urban, Zac Brown, Gary Clark Jr., Don Henley, James Taylor, Chris Stapleton, Haim, Sheryl Crow, Doobie Brothers and ZZ Top, among others. .
