As fighting continues in eastern Ukraine, actress Jessica Chastain traveled to Kyiv on Sunday and spoke with Volodymyr Zelensky. The Ukrainian president, who shared this meeting on his Instagram account, thanked the American actress for her presence and the help given to her country in the context of the conflict between it and Russia.
“American actress Jessica Chastain is in Ukraine today. For us, these types of celebrity visits are extremely valuable. Thanks to them, the world will listen, know and understand even better the truth about what is happening in our country”, confesses the politician, 44 years old.
During her trip, Jessica Chastain also visited the cancer department at Okhmatdyt Children’s Hospital.
Many visits from Hollywood stars
Since the beginning of the conflict last February, President Volodymyr Zelensky has received several Hollywood stars in kyiv, who have come to highlight the critical situation of the Ukrainian people.
Sean Penn was one of the first to travel to the country when the war broke out to make a documentary about the Russian invasion.
In April, actress Angelina Jolie, a special envoy for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, also traveled to Ukraine to meet the wounded and volunteers there. In June, comedian Ben Stiller also met with President Volodymyr Zelensky.
