The MTV Video Music Awards have stopped one of the most important events in the music industry And not just for all the surprises that usually happen during the awards ceremony every year.

This year, rappers Kendrick Lamar, Jack Harlow and Lil Nas X lead the edition with 7 nominations each, although they are closely followed by Doja Cat and Harry Styles, each with 6 nominations, and Billie Eilish, Drake, Dua Lipa , Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift and The Weeknd, each with 5.

It is possible to see a preponderance of hip hop, R&B and pop musicians and a low importance of representatives of rock. On the other hand, Madonna received her 69th nomination in this competition with the video of her single lady x. In this way, she became the only artist to be named during each of the five decades that the VMAs have existed.

Similarly, it is necessary to underline the strong presence of Latinos in several main categories, as is the case with Bad Bunny in “Artist of the Year” and Rosalía in “Best Collaboration” for her song with The Weekend.

Additionally, Minaj will perform live at the ceremony, as will Anitta, J Balvin, Marshmello x Khalid and Panic! in the disco.
