Eurovision 2023: United Kingdom struggles to find the place to organize the next edition

The country, which will host the 2023 edition of Eurovision next year, cannot find a suitable place to host the European song contest.

The United Kingdom, which will host the 2023 edition of Eurovision next year, is facing planning problems and cannot find a suitable place to host the European song contest.

According to information from the BBC, no stadium in the United Kingdom will be free for the duration of the contest. André Rieu and Elton John have concerts planned during this period in places that could be perfect for Eurovision.

“It is certain that some tour dates will have to be delayed or canceled to make room in May,” it can be read on the BBC. The list of cities that can host the event will be announced this Friday.

Safety reasons

Eurovision organizers need to have a place reserved six to eight weeks before the night. “The installation takes three weeks, then there are three or four weeks of rehearsal, including one dedicated to the event,” Claudio Santucci, director of the show, told the BBC.

Eurovision 2023 will take place in the United Kingdom, and not in Ukraine, which has denounced the decision to withdraw its hosting of the next edition for security reasons after the Russian invasion of its territory.
