In late July, Will Smith posted a video apologizing to Chris Rock, whom he slapped at the Oscars in March. An initiative hosted by Will Packer, producer of the ceremony.

Four months after the events, Will Smith, who won the best actor Oscar at the time, apologized to Chris Rock in a video posted on July 29.

“I’ll tell you, Chris, I apologize. My behavior was unacceptable and I’ll be here when you’re ready to talk,” he told the camera.

The main interested party did not want to respond to Will Smith, but the producer of the Oscars, Will Packer, for his part, welcomed the initiative of the actor, during an interview with entertainment tonight for the premiere of his film Beast.

“I like that it is so transparent. We see that it happens above all because of personal questioning,” said the producer.

“People only talk about it”

If Will Packer supported Will Smith and Chris Rock, the Hollywood filmmaker and producer hopes that in the long run public opinion will get something else from this Oscar ceremony:

“People only talk about it. But I hope that over time they realize that it was an energetic, diverse and historic Oscar ceremony,” he says.

If his award has not been withdrawn, Will Smith has still been condemned by the Academy: the actor is banned from the Oscar ceremonies for the next ten years.
