Currently on a crusade against the “totally fake world” of influencers, Booba seems to have found a new opponent to face: Rohff. After a long period of calm, the two rappers, who have been teasing each other for several years, are ready to resume hostilities.
As announced by the two artists in a series of tweets, their differences will be settled in the ring, during a fight scheduled for the coming months. Between clashes, fights and prison time, BFMTV.com returns to the tensions between Booba and Rohff, dating back to the 2000s.
A collaboration gone wrong
It all started in 2001. With his collective, Mafia K’1 Fry, Rohff was then at the forefront of the rap scene and went on to collaborate with the biggest French rap names of the time, such as Oxmo Puccino and Pit Baccardi. Booba is still pretty confidential. At that time, a member of the Lunatic duo, he has yet to release a solo album.
So in full preparation for his second album, Rohff invites Booba to the track We are the street (Vintage), with Rim’K (member of group 113). But when the album was released in September 2001, there was no trace of this collaboration.
If the reasons for this omission remain unclear to this day, Rohff will later explain that there would have been disagreements between the two artists’ respective record companies. This discord affects the relationship between Rohff and Booba who will not stop from then on throwing spades at each other and verbally confronting each other.
First clash due to interposed pieces
It was in August 2012 that tensions escalated to the next level. guest of the show rap planet at Skyrock, Rohff decides to relaunch the clash. In freestyle, he raps, “I’m not Booba’s other zoulette.” Words that obviously do not leave the main interested party indifferent.
If at first the rapper from Hauts-de-Seine does not respond to his rival, a few days later he publishes the single wesh morray in which for almost 4 minutes and 30 minutes he criticizes his competitor, without ever naming him and having fun comparing him to Willy Denzey, Laurent Voulzy or even K.Maro.
“Terminator, I say your loot is shit. Am I right? Am I wrong? My gun will give the verdict. Do ‘Planet Rap,’ it sucks, do what you want. Kopp Di Caprio, Titanic, I’ll sink ’em all.” , Booba raps on wesh morraywhere he makes particular reference to Rohff’s time on Skyrock.
Rohff, who feels objective about the piece, responds by parodying it. He then posted in September 2012, Wesh Zoulette, a title in which, for the first time, he openly targets Booba. He accuses him in particular of having managed to fill his concerts only thanks to the invitations he gives, or of lying about his difficult childhood.
“Ni-rebeu ni negro, the greatest myth of the time. I took over your sound, I personalized it. Since you open your buttocks, who is not tempted to sodomize you? In all this Rap Game only Élie (Élie Yaffa, Booba’s real name) should feel like a target,” Rohff raps in his title.
While the controversy is in full swing, a former boxer offers Booba and Rohff to settle their accounts via a fight, which Rohff will refuse, although his relatives will later claim that the rapper had unsuccessfully tried to come to blows with Booba in a nightclub on his birthday night.
Fight in an Unküt store
Attacked on Instagram by Booba, Rohff, after touring for his album GDPR, takes advantage of his concert at the Zénith in Paris, on April 11, 2013, to put on his cap again. On stage, he performs the famous Wesh Zoulette, accompanied by a huge photomontage of Booba with a wig, projected on the screens in the room. In the process, she posts on her Facebook account a parody of a clip of Booba, released at night.
These attacks don’t really amuse Booba who offers him, on April 21, to “meet him in Paris”, even though he actually lives in Miami. On the same day, Rohff and four relatives show up at an Ünkut (Booba brand) store in the Les Halles district, and attack a young vendor, who is left unconscious on the floor, in critical condition, under the watchful eyes of the police. video surveillance cameras.
Taken into police custody after voluntarily reporting to police on April 22, Rohff was eventually sentenced to five years in prison on appeal before being released in 2019.
Is a real boxing match coming up?
Since then, tensions between Booba and Rohff seemed to have subsided, but the two French rap figures have reignited the flame of their old rivalry this month on Twitter. the interpreter of boulbi in fact he made fun of Rohff’s new single, Lifestyle.
The latter obviously did not fail to react, sharing a video of Booba, visibly out of breath, in the middle of a boxing session. The opportunity for his rival to put the idea of a fight between them back on the carpet, not unlike the Octagon controversy with Kaaris.
“You know very well that I accept the fight, it was me who proposed it to him. […] I prefer Thai boxing. Now if you are afraid of Thai boxing, we do it in English, I pay you too. […] We will find a third party, and he is the one who will propose a fight,” Booba said in a video posted on Twitter.
If at first Rohff refused to come to blows with his opponent, he later made it known in a series of tweets that he preferred English boxing and even took the opportunity to specify the date on which this fight would take place.
“The fight will take place after his Stade de France and my tour like that, great preparation and we give our supporters a struggle History!” he tweeted.
And Booba concludes: “I accept in English, no problem. Yes, after my homeless and your canceled tour. Good training!!”
