One year after his departuretoday Saturday 13 August 2022, the family of dear Enrique Chalar (his real name) has summoned the friends with whom Piltrafa he wrote books in life to remember him in the best possible way.

These are two texts that perfectly reflect the indomitable, rebellious, restless, reflective, countercultural, popularizing, multicolored and adventurous spirit of the now eternal musician, hand in hand with two of the pens he most admired: Juan Carlos Kreimer (co-author of Beyond good and punk) and Juan Ignacio Provéndola (co-author of the still unfinished book on the first Los Violadores LP).

As a preamble, there are some brief and heartfelt words from two colleagues admired by Pil: a pre-generational reference and another post-generational, both collaborators on his latest records: León Gieco and Hernán Valente, from the Cadena Perpetua group.

– “Dear GDP: your absence is more than spring. It will always offer everlasting flowers. Love was your language of life ”(León Gieco).

– “You were undoubtedly a platonic brother to me. You helped me discard what canceled me and trust my mistrust more. Your absence makes me very bitter. I love you, Pil ”(Hernán Valente).

Kreimer’s text

“Happy whatever, Pil. The months go by and for us they stop importing. One day, a year ago, you disappeared. You stopped being here. Not just for yourself. Also for those of us who follow your hyperkinesis closely. . that trick your biology has devoured you, we will never be able to hear you live again.

You have entered the Pantheon of those who have left on a tour from which they will never return. Wow category. Collective imaginaries remind you in so many ways. On stage you sing fast, loud, ultraviolent, hard-hitting phrases. Your joy in front of the audience singing the chorus, accentuating all the syllables, your arms waving high, to the rhythm. Your way of overcoming the esdrújulas, your jump on one leg stretched forward, the other arched in the air “. (full text in pileterno.ar)

The singer died a year ago in Lima, Peru, where he lived for nearly two decades. He died suddenly at the age of 62, just days before a trip to Buenos Aires, where he would present his latest album with the band Pilsen, Flesh, earth and blood.

“With deep sorrow we regret to report the death of our beloved leader, Enrique Chalar. Pil left us physically this afternoon at his home in Lima, Peru, following a cardiorespiratory arrest, at the age of 62”, pointed out the publication of the official Pilsen account released a year ago.

And he continued with a brief description of the artist, energetic and precise: “He leaves us a warrior, pioneer of punk and the Latin American underground, enlightened lyricist, spokesman for an entire generation, fighter and tireless captain of a thousand battles”.

“There are not enough words to express our pain. We especially accompany his wife and son at this time and embrace all his followers who have always meant so much to Pil. Pil Chalar from 1959 to 2021 until eternity” , concludes the text.
