The actor resumes his normal activities on his Instagram account, a month after his apology message to the comedian he slapped at the Oscars ceremony last March.

Life resumes on Will Smith’s Instagram account. A month after his mea culpa and posting a video apologizing to Chris Rock, whom he violently slapped during the Oscars last March, the actor has resumed his normal activity on social media, posting two humorous videos.

The first, published on Saturday, shows a monkey taunting one of his companions. “Me trying to get back on social media,” he captioned. A post “liked” more than 1.7 million times. In another video posted online on Sunday, the actor accompanied by one of his children is terrified by a huge tarantula that he is trying to capture. A video “liked” more than 865,000 times.

“My attitude was unacceptable”

With these two videos, Will Smith seems to announce his return after five months of media diet. In a video posted on July 29, the actor publicly apologized to Chris Rock for slapping him: “Sorry. My attitude was unacceptable.” The actor also apologized to Chris Rock’s mother and family. “That’s one of the things about that moment. I didn’t realize it. And I didn’t think, at the time, how many people I had hurt.”

Will Smith had already apologized to Chris Rock a few weeks before, but wrote: “I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I crossed the line and I was wrong. (…) He did not, there is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness. My behavior last night at the Oscars was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s health problem was too much for me and I reacted emotionally.”
