Prince William and his wife Kate will leave central London for the more bucolic neighborhood of Windsor Castle, where Queen Elizabeth II resides, a choice dictated by the interests of their children, their services announced Monday.
“It was a decision that both parents made to give their children as ‘normal’ a start in life as possible,” a source close to the couple told the outlet. Press Association.
“They wanted to be able to give George, Charlotte and Louis a little more freedom than in central London,” according to the same source. Nine-year-old George is third in the line of succession after 73-year-old grandfather Charles and his father William.

He, his sister Charlotte (seven years old) and his brother Louis (four years old) will be educated in a private school. Lambrook, located a 20-minute drive from Windsor, offers a boarding school, but the two older brothers will be day students. The rent for Adelaide Cottage on the royal estate and the move will be paid by the couple from their personal funds, as will school fees for the three children, estimated at 53,000 pounds (62,500 euros) a year.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, both 40, will nonetheless maintain their base in Kensington, a place of work and representation such as Buckingham Palace for the Queen.
They also enjoy two other properties: Anmer Hall, a ten-bedroom residence in East Norfolk, and Tam-Na-Ghar, a holiday home near the royal Balmoral Castle in Scotland.
The formalization of the move to Windsor, which had been rumored for months, coincides with the 25th anniversary of the death of William’s mother, Princess Diana, in a traffic accident in Paris.
