Finally news of the feature film derived from the series Community. This film project, often mentioned since the shutdown of the hit sitcom in 2015 but never materialized, remains relevant. And safer than ever, as the creator of the American soap opera, Dan Harmon, assures The Wrapper.
“When you are evaluating a percentage probability (of the film seeing the light of day), you have to take into account the possibility of the world exploding or a new virus arriving. But in terms of the (film) industry, it’s about ‘when’ and not ‘if,'” she says.
Released in 2009 on NBC, Community portrays an unscrupulous lawyer forced back into the college dugout when the lies on his resume come to light. There, he made an unlikely group of friends. The show, which has become a cult following, was entitled to six seasons and 110 episodes.
no advanced date
These statements by Dan Harmon come a few weeks after those of Alison Brie, one of the lead actresses, who said that “serious talks” were taking place around a film project.
“I confirm what Alison said,” says Dan Harmon, “there are talks and deals going on.”
“There is a story, who knows if we will stick to it, but we had to have one to present it and attract the producers. And now the negotiations are taking place.”
But he is careful not to indicate any dates. “I say it very sharply, because sometimes the public says ‘so that means it’s in a year, in two years?’ I could have said what I just said three years ago and it would have been almost as fair, right? And imagine if I had said that three years ago? It would have meant that the public would have felt forgotten and neglected for three years, and that’s hard enough not to say anything.”
