King Kong is back: Disney + is developing a series about the legendary monkey

It has been confirmed that Disney + is developing a “live action” series about the origin of King Kong.

The producers’ first idea is to put together a story about the mysteries of the giant monkey’s home, Skull Island, and the early years of his life.

The series will be based on Merian Cooper’s original book, King Kong, as well as new stories created by artist Joe DeVito with Cooper’s ownership.

Stephany Folsom, who recently developed the Amazon Paper Girls series, will write and executive produce the show. Other executive producers will be James Wan, Michael Clear and Rob Hackett, all three of the Atomic Monster production company, as well as Danny Festa of World Builder Entertainment. Production will be by Disney Branded Television.
