One of the most renowned directors of the music scene in our country, Marcello Lombarderoreturns to the country – after an intense international season, which included the presentation of his version of Don Giovanni in the Baltic countries – with a Baroque opera performance.

is approx The triumph of time and disappointmentwith music by George Frideric Handelwhich will be presented together with the Confluencia Barroca Ensemble and the musical direction of Federico Ciancio. It will be between this Friday 26 and Sunday 28 at the Teatro Real, in Córdoba.

With Ciancio also on harpsichord and organ, the dancers Germán Massimino, Paula Miranda and Tomás Sanabria, the singers will be Constanza Días Falú (The beauty), Alejandra Tortosa (Pleasure), Flavio Oliver (The disenchanted) and Mario Martinez (Time).

Handel – one of the most notable musical creators in history and a symbol of the Baroque era – was 22 years old when, in 1707, he composed his first oratorio in Rome. He was around Reformed Beauty at the Triumph of Time and Disillusionmenton a libretto by Cardinal Pamphili and inspired by verses by Petrarch.

The argument

His argument is an allegory on the brevity of beauty and worldly pleasures, updated to our times, in which the four personalities compete: Beauty, Time, Pleasure and Disappointment.

By virtue of its impeccable dramatic structure, the oratory lends itself to its staging, in the manner of an opera, as in this proposal by Lombardero together with Confluencia Barroca.
