It’s hard to get into a saga when I’m already in the fourth movie. Both, like taking and starting a series for the third, fourth or fifth season. As much as they summarize at the beginning, little or nothing is understood. So if you haven’t seen any of the after (After), then don’t joke because you don’t understand anything.

Yet something has been understood.

For those who want to get closer to this made in USA soap opera based on the novels of Anna Todd, the young protagonists are Tessa Young (Tessa Joven) and Hardin Scott. They met in college and already on the road there were cross relationships: the mother of a friend was engaged to Hardin’s father. Well, it will be like this until this fourth film.

In After. Infinite loveTessa and Hardin are a couple, and they are not, and they are again, and they stop being, and in the end they seem to be together, or maybe not.

These young people, who love each other, need each other – that verb so dangerous to conjugate in a relationship -, they say painful things to each other, but if you haven’t seen or read the previous films or books, maybe you will continue to think and say “oh yes, rent it”.

Error, because as we said, they stop being together and get back together. And so.

Not that terrible things happen to him. Love is like that sometimes. It comes and goes. Like a yo-yo, like a boomerang. Like all movies after.

one per season

The films of after They come one at a time, one a year. In 2019 it was After. it all starts here. In 2020, After. in a thousand pieces (it premiered in September, in theaters where they were open and streaming), in 2021 it was the turn of After. Lost souls.

Director Castille Landon, whose surname is the name of one of the secondary characters, has already directed the previous (After. Lost souls), and she’s committed to directing a sequel (but at the beginning there weren’t four movies …?) and a prequel, so let’s just say she’s a real insider.

For those familiar with the plot, know that Hardin is in tatters (as at the end of Lost souls, so he discovered his father, his mother and who he now knows is his father). And Tessa doesn’t start having fun: when she returns to Seattle, something happens to her father.

The problem with this film is that it doesn’t go on. It’s like a but running around biting its tail.

Josephine Langford and Hero Fiennes Tiffin are the protagonists. She, an Australian, may or may not be remembered Moxiethe film set in a high school, released by Netflix in 2021. No, not that, another one.

If you go to Wikipedia (I spare you), you find that “in 2009, at the age of 12, he won the role of the young version of Lord Voldemort in Harry Potter and the halfblood PrinceDavid Yates, the director of the film, said … that Hero was chosen NOT for his likeness and his family relationship with Ralph Fienneswho is his maternal uncle and played Lord Voldemort in his adult version.

Oh sure, no.

Well, since there will be more films than after, one that will happen later (after this) and another before (i.e. before), we leave it here and come back, presumably, in a year. Or not.
