Today, rock artists aren’t the ones with the biggest tours abroad, shows with sold out venues and millions of listeners and views and followers on the networks, no matter how successful Fito Páez, Andrés Calamaro, Los Auténticos Decadentes, Enanitos Verdes, Bandalos Chinos and Knowing Russia are.
The numbers of the moment are those that have just won the Gardel Awardsprecisely: Duki, Bizarrap, Wos, Nicki Nicole, Trueno, Tiago PZK, Dillom, Cazzu and Emilia.
Some older, orthodox music lovers are still trying to disqualify them and claim they are a passing fad. They try to compare them to progressive music, jazz or classic rock, which are more relevant to them, subjectivity aside.
But is not so: urban music is the most fertile ground for breaking structures, innovating and creating from hits to concept albums. Most of his figures are creative and he also enjoyed performing in shows with live bands and great staging, instead of going on stage almost alone, a producer and his computer. Today they play at festivals around the world and reach places where Argentine music has never arrived.
