There are twin palms, childish laughter and a new polo team in Meghan Markle and Harry’s life in California. The Duchess gave an interview to the American press, in which she confesses some of her plans, and receives a journalist at her luxurious villa in Montecito, California. The broadcast of this interview coincides with that of the second episode of her feminist podcast Arquetipos on Spotify,

If this River interview with The Cut magazine is less rich in revelations than the one granted to Oprah Winfrey in 2021, Meghan Markle reserves some spades for her in-laws.

“I think forgiving is really important. It takes a lot more energy to not forgive. But it takes a lot of effort to forgive. I really made an active effort, especially knowing that I can say anything,” she slides.

The Duchess of Sussex thus evokes the straitjacket of the rules to be respected, particularly in matters of communication. “There is literally a structure where if you want to publish photos of your child, as a family member, you have to give them to Royal Rota first,” she explains, referring to the British press credentialing system. “Why would I share photos of my children with people who called them n…” she adds, settling scores with the tabloid press.

Meghan Markle also takes the opportunity to announce that she will soon return to Instagram. The former actress and influencer who ran the blog the tigand running her own Instagram account before marrying Harry, she had to end her digital activities and join the @KensingtonRoyal account, where Kate and William were already talking.

The tabloid press had fun this Tuesday with Meghan Markle’s interview: the Sunthe Mirror and the daily mail let it be yours – and note in particular this quote from Harry, which evokes the damaging influence of the press on his family: “I lost my father in the process”.

If the press did not help relations between Harry and his father, the wayward prince himself worked for the estrangement. For example, he said during the Oprah Winfrey interview that his father and his brother were “prisoners” of the system, like members of the royal family. He also explained that his father had stopped taking his calls and had “cut him off.”

like salt and pepper

In her interview with The Cut, Meghan Markle evokes her relationship with Harry, not without sentimentality, comparing herself to the two palm trees in the garden of her luxurious villa or to salt and pepper, always inseparable.

Meghan and Harry will travel to the UK next week, to Manchester for the One Young World Summit, before attending Düsseldorf to announce the upcoming Invictus Games.
