Rapper Takayo Nembhard was stabbed to death Monday night at a carnival in London’s Notting Hill neighborhood. The 21-year-old Bristol-born artist, who performed under the stage name TKorStretch, attended the event celebrating Caribbean culture “with his younger sister and friends of his,” his manager Chris Patrick said on Instagram. .
“We recorded great music together. His talent was endless and I can tell you he came close to greatness. So it is with a heavy heart that I bring you the news of Takayo’s passing last night. He came from Bristol just to have fun at the London Carnival and here he is the final result”.
As reported by the Metropolitan Police in a statement, there was a knife attack in Ladbroke Grove, under the Westway Viaduct, in west London. Police and paramedics reportedly gave TKorStretch first aid before he was taken to hospital, where he died. A murder investigation has since been opened.
More than 200 arrests
London Mayor Sadiq Khan said he was “disgusted” by the stabbing. “Violence has no place in our streets and we are doing everything in our power to eradicate it. There is no honor in remaining silent,” he added.
The Notting Hill Carnival is considered the second carnival in the world after Rio, Brazil. According to sky newsthe event staged for the first time since the pandemic in this west London borough quickly turned into chaos on Saturday.
Police said they made more than 200 arrests, including 46 for assault, 36 for receiving drugs, 33 for possession of a weapon, 27 for disorderly conduct and eight for sexual assault during the event.
