Riccardo Rotta
Richard Roat, an American actor best known for his supporting roles in numerous classic television series, has died at the age of 89.
His works include popular titles such as Friends, Seinfeld Y alpha. Roat’s family confirmed the news through an obituary published in the Los Angeles Times that did not specify the cause of death, but he is said to have died on August 5.
Friends and Seinfeld
fan of Seinfeld Roat is remembered as one of the doctors who considered Elaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) a “difficult patient” in the eighth season episode called The packagein 1998.
It’s inside friends appeared as a fellow professor berating Ross (David Schwimmer) for dating a female student in a 2000 episode called The one where Ross goes out with a student.
According to his obituary, Roat has had “more than 135 acting roles in television, film and Broadway”. He also had “a successful practice as an entertainment industry tax preparer for more than 50 years,” the memorial states.
Roat has outlived his wife for over 40 years, Kathy.

Born in July 1933 in Hartford, the state capital of Connecticut, Richard Roat began as a voice actor for television series. In 1962, he rose to fame with his first regular role in Doctorsan NBC series in which it was for 170 episodes.
Over the course of his career, he has appeared in more than 135 different projects. Some of his most important roles were the ones he played in The golden girlslegendary series in which he appeared twice playing different characters, the best known being that of Betty White’s boyfriend who is found dead in his bed the next morning.
Other notable works were titles such as Dynasty, Charlie’s Angels, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Columbo, Cannon, Kojak Y hawaii 5.0.
It was in high demand in the 1980s and 1990s, appearing in hits such as 7th Heaven, Cybill, The Practice, Ellen, Coach, 3rd Rock from the Sun, Murphy Brown, The Nanny, Melrose Place, Blossom, Grace Under Fire, Single living, Mad About You, Lois & Clark, Night Court, Baywatch, Murphy’s Law, Simon & Simon, LA Law, Matlock Y alpha.
His last credit as an actor came in 2009 in an episode of the series 24.
Roat has also had roles in 1970s films such as Westworld, American hot wax Y Corvette Estate. She also starred alongside Eva Gabor, Robert Hays and a young Jay Leno in the 1978 show almost heaven.
