The plot of the movie Have more respect from your motherwith Florencia Peña and Diego Peretti, is based on the popular blog by Hernán Casciari, who, together with Christian Basili, gave shape to an idea by Nacho Laviaguerre, producer of the hit comedy with Antonio Gasalla, which attracted over a million viewers, for several seasons.

The story begins with the arrival in Genoa, at the beginning of the 20th century, of Américo Bertotti (Diego Peretti), who places his hopes on building a new country. Pursuing his dreams of progress, he settles in Mercedes, Buenos Aires province, where he founded a traditional pizzeria.

A hope lurks in his soul: that entrepreneurship escapes the vicissitudes of history e which arrives, bringing the Italian tradition, to the year 2000. A difficult dream, especially due to the social and economic transformations that our country has undergone over many years.

the matriarchy

The adventures continue the last three days of December 1999 and are centered on the descendants of the Bertotti, being Mirta González de Bertotti (Florencia Peña), the maximum exponent of the authentic matriarch always attentive to solving family problems.

Her husband Zacharias (Guglielmo Arengo), was fired after twenty years of work in the same company and have three children, the scholar José María (Bruno Giganti) and two slightly rebellious children, the teenager Sofía (Angela Torres) and the rebel Gaius (Agostino Battioni).

With 51 years behind her, Mirta protects the nest at home with the shield of her immeasurable affection, even if the situation is so critical that the eldest son forgoes a scholarship abroad, to help with the burdened finances of the home. In addition to injury, insult the ninth is not in good health and business is languishing with only a couple of customers.

But despite everything, the spark of hope lights up and these dysfunctional beings, like so many in every corner of the planet, get their hands to work to make Américo’s wish come true. Mirta takes the reins with her pigeons and adds the help of some parishioners, to revitalize the place, wash the faces of the walls and put the wood-burning oven into operation.

Grotesque, excesses and black humor

Obviously we will not tell here how the story proceeds and how it ends, we will only say that this welcome comedy of manners, which refer immediately to the classic Waiting for the carriageit is full of excesses, underlining and even a bit of black humor tinged with the excellent music of Gerardo Gardelin.

The discoveries of script and direction are welcome, in particular the soliloquies of the protagonist in front of the cameras and the unification of the comic tone of the entire castin this successful x-ray of our idiosyncrasy.

To highlight, the absolute dedication of Peña, a kind of volcanic Sofia Loren on the screen and the always effective Peretti, who after a successful makeup designed by Karina Camporino, with the characterization specialist María Celeste Caparelli, turns into a nice old man .
