The 2022 Emmy Awards have two winners before anything else. If the television Oscars generate special expectation – they were delivered this Monday at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles – it is knowing which of the series is the best comedy and the best drama. And the victory went to ted lasso Y Succession respectively. The other winner of the gala, in the miniseries category, was The white lotus.

One item that attracted particular attention was the best actor for a drama series. In this case, the prize went to Lee Jung-jae thanks to squid game, the worldwide success of Netflix. His celebration contrasted with Bob Odenkirk’s forced laughter for his captivating character in Better Call Saul, right in the season of the end definitive.

“Thank you for bringing the realistic issues we all have to the screen so creatively,” said the South Korean actor, who also left Jason Bateman (“Ozark”), Brian Cox (“Succession”), Adam Scott ( “Secession”) and Jeremy Strong (“Succession”).

Best Comedy Actor and Actress

Jason Sudeikis (“Ted Lasso”) and Jean Smart (“Hacks”) revalidated the awards and managed to win the Emmy for Best Actor and Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.

After the announcement of Sudeikis’ victory, the American actor took the stage and said he was “very surprised” by the great competition that existed this year to win the award for best comedian.

“I didn’t think about home or talk to my mom about what I was going to say because there were some fantastic actors nominated this year. Thanks to all the cast, my family and people who have seen the series, “said the protagonist of the famous comedy Apple TV +.

“I can only say that I am very impressed,” Sudeikis concluded succinctly.

An award that, in the female category, supposes the fifth prize for Jean Smartwhich again won for the second consecutive year in this category at the hands of “Hacks” (HBO).

“Thanks to everyone working on this series because every year it gets better. I didn’t realize the impact we had until three 10-year-olds stopped me on the street and I had to tell them they were too young to see itjoked a particularly happy Jean Smart.

Smart affectionately and jokingly referred to the latter, calling her a “fabulous, very elegant and large cookie jar” guilty of not fitting almost any dress for the ceremony.

Best Actress in a Drama, Zendaya

The actress won an Emmy for Best Actress in a Drama for her role in HBO’s “Euphoria.” said an excited Zendaya after receiving the award by beating Jodie Comer (“Killing Eve”), Laura Linney (“Ozark”), Melanie Lynskey (“Yellowjackets”), Sandra Oh (“Killing Eve”) and Reese Witherspoon (“The Morning Show “)”).

Right after that, Oprah.

Before the main awards arrived, one of the most exciting moments of the first part of the awards ceremony was Sheryl Lee Ralph (“Abbott Elementary”) singing Endangered speciesby Dianne Reeves who receives the Emmy for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy.

“I’m an endangered species, but I don’t sing like a victim. I’m a woman, I’m an artist and I don’t know where my voice belongs.”“, sang the veteran actress who received a standing ovation.

“You can see today is a vacation,” said American TV diva Oprah Winfrey, presenting the first prize of the evening, best actor in a miniseries awarded to Michael Keaton, for “Dopesick”.

Preceded by a glamorous red carpet, the biggest televised party began with a musical number that retraced the tracks of great hits like “Friends” or “Game of Thrones”.

Will Smith’s shadow at the Oscars

Presented by “Saturday Night Live” comedian Kenan Thompson, This edition of the Emmys is the first major award since the March Oscars, when Will Smith slapped Chris Rock on stage for making a joke about his wife.

The incident that stunned millions made it into the Emmy Awards script. “What could possibly go wrong?” Thompson asked actor Bowen Yang. “Haven’t you seen the Oscars?” Yang replied, pretending to be a replacement conductor, “just in case.”

On a more emotional note, actress Geena Davis received Governor Awards for her career. “As you know, television can often have a direct impact on how people see themselves and judge their worth in the world,” said Davis, who works for on-screen representation. “We still have a lot of work to do.”
