In a Twitter post, the MSSS confirms that people between the ages of 18 and 59 will receive a second booster dose even though the Quebec Committee on Immunization (CIQ) has not yet made an official recommendation for this age group.

Prior to this announcement, only people aged 60 and over, people living in CHSLD or private residence for the elderly (RPA) as well as immunosuppressed people aged 12 or over are eligible for the fourth dose, if their third is within at least three months.

Earlier today, the government announced that wearing a mask will no longer be mandatory in public places starting May 14, with some exceptions such as public transport and places where care is provided, such as hospitals, CHSLD and medical clinics.

According to the acting national director of public health, Dr. Luc Boileau, this decision was made possible by the decline of many indicators, whether it is the number of cases, the number of health workers who are positive, the number of hospitalizations, the absence of students, whether at the elementary or secondary level.

A seventh wave is expected

This sixth wave may show signs of steam depletion, it is likely to be followed by the seventh, according to Dr’s right arm. Boileau.

The question is not: will there be a seventh wave? Instead it is when the seventh wave will occursaid this ministry expert, Dr. Jean Longtin.

The microbiologist-infectiologist explained that Quebec is not immune to a new variant and that, if necessary, public health should ask itself the same questions as in previous waves: What will be the effect of the vaccine at that time? [Où en sera] natural immunity?

This is why he does not exclude that another vaccination campaign will be needed in the fall, even if it is too early to say which part of the population will be targeted.

No one in the world today can predict what will happen to this coronaviruswarned Dr. Boileau. He has sent us some surprises over the past two years, with new variants, some more toxic, others more contagious or more contagious and more toxic.

However, he reiterated that the government has no intention of re -implementing more drastic measures.

I think people will spontaneously develop protective reflexes when there are situations that require it.argument by Luc Boileau.
