COVID-19: 14 deaths and 37 fewer hospitals in Quebec

Public health reported Wednesday that 1,562 people were hospitalized in Quebec because of COVID-19, 37 less than the day before.

Of this number, 53 patients were in intensive care, 5 more than in the previous assessment.

According to data from the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MSSS), 97 additional COVID-19 patients were admitted to the hospital in the past 24 hours, while 134 patients were discharged.

Fourteen other patients also died of COVID-19, bringing the death toll to 15,326 since the pandemic began.

Quebec also identified 626 new cases of the infection, bringing the number of confirmed cases in Quebec to 1,060,045 since February 2020.

The positivity rate in Quebec is 6.2%, according to the latest data from MSSS.

However, the number of cases identified does not represent the situation, as access to screening centers is only possible for groups considered priority.

So far, more than 91% of Quebecers aged five and over have received a single dose of the vaccine for COVID-19, 55% have received the third dose and 13% the fourth dose, according to data from Ministry of Health and Quebec Social Services. .
