Sixteen people died in COVID-19 between May 8 and May 14, according to the latest provincial weekly bulletin released Thursday.
However, the total number of deaths from COVID-19 rose by 66 in one week. The province said 1,913 people died of the disease in Manitoba on May 14, compared to 1,847 on May 7.
This difference is explained by the fact that deaths that occurred previously were added to the report covering the week of May 14. Indeed, the province regularly adjusts its data based on the information it receives.
In addition, seven outbreaks were recorded in the province between May 8 and May 14: three in hospitals and four in long -term care centers.
For their part, hospital admissions dropped from 196 between May 1 and May 7 to 149 next week. Sixteen patients were admitted to intensive care.
766 reported cases
The province recorded 766 cases of COVID-19 between May 8 and May 14. However, it is impossible to know the true number of cases because PCR tests are no longer easily accessible. However, they are the only ones counted in Manitoba.
On average, 832 tests were performed daily. The weekly positivity rate was 18.5%.
Wastewater monitoring in the City of Winnipeg on May 2 showed continued coronavirus transmission, with decreased activity.
