Public health authorities in Outaouais, Ottawa and Eastern Ontario are each reporting a slight increase in hospitals of patients with COVID-19 in their respective jurisdictions.
Ottawa Public Health (OPH) is reporting an additional hospital from the previous day, for a total of 15 within its hospital facilities. One person is in intensive care in Ottawa, compared to two the day before.
In Outaouais, there were two more surgeries, for a total of 55 patients hospitalized with COVID-19, according to the latest data from the National Institute of Public Health of Quebec (INSPQ). Of these patients, the number of them in intensive care in the region, however, dropped from 2 to 1.
The Eastern Ontario Health Unit (EOHU) posted on its website on Friday that three people who tested positive for COVID-19 had been hospitalized, including one in intensive care.
The slight increase in hospitals in the three health regions is contrary to the provincial balances of Quebec and Ontario.
Public health in Quebec reported two more deaths and 38 fewer hospitalizations on Friday. In Ontario, 669 hospitalizations were reported, one less than the day before, and eight additional deaths.
In the larger region of the federal capital, no new deaths from the disease have been reported OPS
or by EOHU according to their respective data released on Friday.Since the pandemic began, 812 COVID-19-related deaths have been recorded in Ottawa. In eastern Ontario, the toll is at 230.
At the time of publication of these lines, the Outaouais Integrated Health and Social Services Center (CISSS) had not yet reported whether additional deaths from the consequences of COVID-19 had been recorded in the past 24 hours.
As for the number of new cases detected, OPS
reported 55 additional infections for a total of 73,642. For the Outaouais region, data fromINSPQ report 20 new cases, for a total of 39,813.The EOHU
no longer publishes information on the number of new cases on its website. However, we can see that the positivity rate continues its downward trend. The latter now stands at 7%, whereas it slightly exceeds this percentage in the previous report. However, all data related to the number of new cases may be underestimated due to the change in screening strategy introduced by Quebec and Ontario a few months ago.
