The recommendation of the High Health Authority announced this Wednesday in a press release also concerns those under 60 with comorbidities.

The High Health Authority (HAS) recommends expanding the administration of a second booster dose of the Covid-19 vaccine to pregnant women and those under 60 with comorbidities, we can read this Wednesday in a press release.

“In a context of epidemic resumption characterized in particular by the circulation of the Omicron sublineage BA.5”, the HAS “recommends extending the administration of an additional booster dose to adults under 60 years of age identified at risk of a severe form of Covid -19, to pregnant women and people who live in the environment or in regular contact with immunocompromised or vulnerable people”, indicates the press release.

This opinion takes into account “the latest available data, and in particular the French epidemiological data, the data related to the current vaccination coverage of the most vulnerable populations and the vaccine efficacy data on the variants in circulation”, specifies the HAS.

Same opinion as WHO

It recommends the extension “to adults under 60 years of age with comorbidities and pregnant women from the 1st trimester of pregnancy, who are at risk of developing severe forms of Covid-19”, as well as “to people who live in the environment or in regular contact with immunocompromised or vulnerable people.

An additional booster dose is already recommended for people 60 years of age or older, immunosuppressed people regardless of their age, as well as high-risk children and adolescents, recalls the HAS.

The World Health Organization in Europe had already recommended this Tuesday a second booster dose of the Covid-19 vaccine for vulnerable people, given the rebound in cases on the continent.
