Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne received a new booster dose against Covid-19 this Friday. She invited all eligible people to do the same.

For example. Elisabeth Borne received her second booster dose of the Covid-19 vaccine on Friday morning, at a nursing office in Paris. The Prime Minister took the opportunity to invite those eligible for this reminder to do the same, to “spend a serene summer”.

“Like 4 million French people, I have just received my second booster dose” of a vaccine that “protects severe forms and strengthens immune defenses” against Covid-19, argued the 61-year-old head of government.

“With the summer there are many people who are going to meet the grandchildren or the family. It is very important to do this second booster dose,” he added.

A retreat open to 17 million French

Elisabeth Borne is part of the public affected by this recall, open for the moment to all people over 60 years of age, to pregnant women, but also to people under 60 years of age “at risk” or who live in the environment of people fragile.

In total, some 17 million French people are eligible for this extra dose. It is possible from three months after the first reminder for the most fragile, and six months later for the others.

“The epidemic is not far behind”

“The epidemic is falling again in this seventh wave, but (…) we still have an increase in people hospitalized, in intensive care and even deaths. The epidemic has not been left behind”, stressed Élisabeth Borne, inviting “everyone those for whom this second dose is recommended to be vaccinated”.

The number of infections by Covid-19 is around 78,000 cases per day, on average for seven days. This figure is far from the peak of this seventh wave, established at 130,000 cases. But hospitalizations are not falling yet and remain at around 1,400 cases a day, on average for seven days, according to data from Public Health France.
