To deal with the spread of monkeypox cases, “more than a hundred” places offer vaccination against this virus in France, according to figures provided Monday by the Minister of Health, François Braun, on BFMTV.
In addition to adults who have had risky contact with a patient, the government now authorizes preventive vaccination for “men who have sex with men,” “trans people who report multiple sexual partners,” “people in prostitution,” and ” professionals in places of sexual activity”. consumption”.
• Find a vaccination site
To find a vaccination site, simply go to the Regional Health Agency websites or the Monkey Pox information service website, the page dedicated to the toll-free number established by the government.
In the “vaccination” section of this last page, a link redirects to a table, periodically updated, that lists all hospitals, health centers and CeGIDD (Free Center for Information, Detection and Diagnosis) of sexually transmitted infections, which practice this vaccination in each department.
• Call or make an appointment online
Most offer to make an appointment by phone, at the number indicated in this same table, but some also allow online time slot reservation. This is the case of several centers in Paris, Nice, Montpellier and Nantes, through the Doctolib site.
In the latter case, it is enough to indicate the reason for the appointment, most of the time it is possible to choose “first injection” or “second injection” of the monkeypox vaccine, and then choose a shift among those who are still available.
• Soon “additional weapons” will be mobilized
In order to speed up vaccination against this virus, a first fully dedicated center was opened on Tuesday in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, François Braun announced Monday on BFMTV. The objective of this center is, initially, to vaccinate between 200 and 300 people a day.
But the places available for this new vaccination center, open for reservations since last week, have already been filled on Doctolibas is the case with other vaccination points.
Many associations then criticized the difficulties encountered in obtaining a vaccine, criticizing “the government’s lack of preparation and transparency” and calling for a “coup vaccination campaign” by the government.
The Health Minister assured that he wanted to “mobilize additional weapons” to ensure vaccination. The ministry specified in particular that “health students” will be able to take care of him. A decree will appear in the official gazette on Tuesday detailing the terms of the project.
In total, more than 1,700 cases of monkeypox have been confirmed in France, almost half of them in Île-de-France.
