France had “1,749 confirmed cases” of monkeypox on Monday, almost half of them in Ile-de-France, according to the latest report to date, which it provided during questions to the government.

“The number of injections is steadily increasing, with almost 1,200 injections performed on July 21 and over 114 vaccination centers open. This movement will continue and will continue to accelerate,” he added.

“We have no problem with the number of doses”

Health Minister François Braun announced Monday night that he will mobilize “additional arms” to vaccinate, in particular health students.

“We have no problem with the number of doses available,” his delegate minister hammered on Tuesday. The “replenishment of doses will continue during the coming weeks, to the extent necessary”, beyond the 42,000 already announced, and “additional orders have been placed to cover all the demand in the coming weeks and months”.

France reacted “very soon” to vaccinate people exposed to risk contacts, later becoming “one of the first countries in the world to offer preventive vaccination and full coverage”, pleaded Agnès Firmin Le Bodo, questioned by deputies Andy Kerbrat ( Nupes-LFI), then David Valence (Renaissance).

No response on strategic stock

The left-wing elected official called in particular for the government to “act quickly, transparency”, asking if “France still lacks vaccines” and drawing a parallel with Covid, also because “the most precarious are once again the first victims” .

The delegate minister, she, defended the “long-term” government “mobilization”, evoking “the continuation of the awareness of health professionals” and “the reinforcement of prevention messages, in connection with associations”.

And, he announced, “we will work with our European counterparts this week for a coordinated strategy.”

Asked later about the strategic stock of smallpox vaccine by the deputy and emergency doctor Philippe Juvin (LR), Agnès Firmin Le Bodo did not provide details on this subject until then kept silent by the executive in the name of defense secrecy.
