COVID-19: 6 more deaths and 85 more hospitals in Quebec

The number of hospitalizations due to COVID-19 continues to rise in Quebec. Public health reported that 1,793 people had been hospitalized in the past 24 hours, 85 more than the previous day.

Of this number, 69 patients were in intensive care, down 2 compared to the previous report.

According to data from Quebec Ministry of Health and Social ServicesAnother 184 COVID-19 patients were admitted to the hospital in the past 24 hours, while 99 were discharged.

The six deaths also added to the death toll, which has risen to 14,544 since the pandemic began in Quebec.

Quebec has also recorded 2,234 new COVID-19 infections, bringing the number of confirmed cases in Quebec to 1,000,895 since the pandemic began in February 2020.

However, the number of cases identified does not represent the situation, as access to screening centers is only possible for groups considered priority.

In total, 16,082 samples taken by the PCR test were analyzed on April 9, for a positivity rate of 16.7%.
