The third jury sued COVID-19, again forcing the hearings to stop the trial of the author of the saber attacks in Old Quebec.
As the defendant began his defense on Tuesday, the judge indicated that a member of the jury was still in solitary confinement, and he could resume his seat on Wednesday.
The jury has already sat on 11 members since the first jury was excluded after a day and a half of hearing, when it was declared positive for COVID-19.
When another jury got the same result, the Court wanted to extend the Easter holiday to allow him to make his separation, and thus remain on the jury.
A first
A trial cannot be conducted without less than 10 members of the jury.
Judge Richard Grenier said this was the first time he had seen such a situation.
He asked the jury members to appear Wednesday morning for the remaining proceedings.
Carl Girouard was charged with two first degree murder and five attempted murder.
