This is the important message that Christian Blanchette sent in his interview with Always in the morningminutes before heading to the Trois-Rivières Chamber of Commerce to present its vision of a university town.

Our campus is beautiful, but for citizens, it’s three signs on the side of the streets. We don’t see him. This is why, among other things, we bring the university to its campus to take it downtown, to go where people are. We also need to create a way to invite people into our home. Mr. mentioned. Demonstrating university accessibility is one of the challenges for years to come. We need people with DEP or technicians, but by entering university, we can develop dreams to go there underlined the rector.

I think, by opening the university, by bringing it to the city, by making it visible, we can show that it is accessible.

Another big challenge is housing, specifically for the approximately 2,300 international students who will arrive in Trois-Rivières in August when the accommodation is rented. Christian Blanchette believes it is important to develop appropriate models. But it takes time and sadly the need is now his observation.

In addition, UQTR will continue its teaching mission on outdoor campuses such as Center-du-Québec, Québec and Lanaudière. As for Center-Mauricie, Christian Blanchette believes it is possible to form research partnerships and sign agreements in places like Digihub to allow students and researchers to have nearby places to work.
