Trial of Steve Lévesque: Another police officer testifies to the items seized in Saint-Lin

An investigative sergeant for crimes against the man from Mascouche was called to the witness stand Wednesday morning at Steve Lévesque’s trial to explain to the court the conduct of the search and search conducted at a warehouse in Saint-Lin-Laurentides. The crime was allegedly committed in January 2020 in Sainte-Anne-des-Monts.

Detective Sergeant Martin Gélinas told the court he participated in the covert search, either on a general warrant and without the knowledge of the warehouse tenants, conducted on Jan. 24, 2020, and in the search conducted on Jan. 26, 2020 in a warehouse in Saint-Lin – Laurentides, in the Lanaudière region.

The witness testified that there was a strong smell of bleach coming from the warehouse when police opened the door.

He also indicated that many samples were taken from stains of reddish substances recorded on some objects and many objects were seized.

Detective Sergeant mentioned that one of the purpose of the search was to try to find the DNA of the suspects and victims.

Some of the items recovered from the warehouse were presented to the jury, including a package of ratchet straps, tie wrapstarp wrappers, shoelaces and a blue bin stained with a reddish substance.

The pistols were stolen a few weeks before the alleged crime

Another witness was called to the stand on Wednesday morning.

The latter claimed he was the victim of theft and forced entry into his home, on the North Shore of Montreal, in December 2020. He identified the four pistols in which he was holding ownership and transportation authorizations. was stolen.

The witness told the court that prior to their theft, he used these weapons for recreation at a shooting range where he was registered.

According to the testimony of Detective Sergeant Gélinas, authorization papers about guns belonging to the witness who said he had been robbed were found in Saint-Lin’s warehouse.

The trial of Steve Lévesque continues Wednesday afternoon. Investigator Gélinas must finish his testimony and other police officers must be called to the Crown’s witness stand.
