The class action suit filed recently against the Brothers of Christian Instruction and the Montfort Fathers involves other alleged victims, according to the law firm representing them.

Montreal law firm Arsenault Dufresne Wee claimed last week that the sexual assaults were allegedly committed by novice Yvon Côté at the Maison Marie-Reine-des-Cœurs des Pères Montfortains in Drummondville in the 1980s.

Since this request was announced, other alleged victims have raised their voices. They also say they experienced sexual abuse from a member of the Montfort Fathers, but this time, in Outaouais in the 1970s, attorney Justin Wee said.

The two mentioned being victims of Father Armand Fournier’s sexual assault in Outaouais. Father Fournier would be director of the summer camp at Val-des-Bois, in Outaouais, and there would also be, in the 1970s, the Vanier attacks, in Ottawa.underlined the lawyer.

The attorney remembers that potential victims may join the class action request free of charge and confidentially.

So far, more than thirty of them have come to the forefront of this civil procedure targeting two religious communities.

No congregation has yet gone to court to seek a ban on the publication of the names of their target members, which is a good thing in the circumstances, according to Wee.

It is important that we continue to disclose the names of these abusers [présumés] […] for other victims to knowhe argued.

In this way justice can be served.
