Villarreal’s CEO, Fernando Roig Negueroles, acknowledged after his team’s 2-0 loss to Liverpool in the first leg of the Champions League semi-finals that it is a comfortable result for the rival, but not definitive.
“They have been superior to us and at the start of the second half they have scored their chances. It is not a bad result because we have not had any chances and they have many but they only converted two,” he said before the Movistar cameras.
For the second leg at La Cerámica, Roig Negueroles hopes to have striker Gerard Moreno and a completely overturned stadium. “Let’s see if we score a goal soon and get into the tie,” said the Villarreal manager.
He also wanted to thank the support of the 3,000 Villarreal fans who “have given everything in the stands”
