Like mechanical engineer Jean Gadbois, former world karting champion Luc Sauriol believes the adjustments made to the circuit had nothing to do with what happened.
According to him, if he had been destabilized on the cement repair road, Ayrton Climo would have slowed down.
If the vehicle has had a mechanical failure, it will be visible after the accident and the telemetric data of the kart, recorded by sensors installed on the racing vehicles, also clearly shows this. For example, when a chain is broken, the revolution of the machine continues to increase, while the speed of the machine decreases.
Since there were no other pilots nearby, he also rejected the hypothesis of a collision with a competitor. It only leaves in his eyes one possibility: pilot error. He is of the opinion that Ayrton Climo has only negotiated his turn.
A circuit can be complicated, according to experts
Luc Sauriol, called to the helm as an expert in driving, mechanics and karting training, is also a specialist in track designs. He believes the Trois-Rivières temporary circuit is not particularly complicated.
He observed plastic barriers, hay bales, foam mattresses and tire walls, i.e., different protection measures selected according to the risks of leaving tracks in specific areas.
He believes the selections on the Monaco circuit are enough. Speed will have no effect on the accident in question.
The rear wheel of the kart driven by Ayrton Climo was reported to have hit a straw bale at the exit of turn 5. He was removed from his vehicle before going to the rails and hit by vehicles participating in the testing session. He still lives to this day with the consequences of this accident.
He and his family have filed a lawsuit of more than $ 26 million against the Monaco de Trois-Rivières organization, but also the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières, Eastern Canadian Karting Championship and ASN Canada for negligence. in track construction.
The trial is due to end this Thursday, by the latest Friday morning. Lawyers for both sides will make their representation to the judge on Monday.
