Sexual assault: 15 months in prison for former broker Francis Vallée

The former real estate broker, Francis Vallée, was sentenced to 15 months in prison followed by 2 years probation on Thursday at the Gatineau courthouse.

The 40-year-old man was convicted in December 2021 of a number of sexual assaults on a woman for facts in 2011, when they had a brief relationship.

While the sentencing submissions were due to take place on Thursday, the prosecutor of record and Mr. Vallée’s attorney instead filed a joint sentencing motion.

Judge Anouk Desaulniers described this suggestion as a loose sentences in light of aggravating facts at not the judgment that the court would have imposed.

The former broker has to comply with certain conditions. He was under supervision in his first year of probation. He is prohibited from contacting the victim personally or through social networks. She needs to continue the therapy she has started and submit to additional therapy if necessary. She will be banned from possessing firearms, ammunition or explosives for 10 years and must register with the National Sex Offenders Registry.

Appeal and suspension procedure

Francis Vallée is appealing the verdict, but no court date has yet been set.

The Court of Appeal of Quebec announced in January that it was granting this request. If the court decides to hear the motion that will later be filed here, there may be a new trial.

Mr. brokerage license. Vallée was suspended in September 2020 following the filing of complaints of inappropriate conduct against him from clients and former clients.

The former broker has also been suspended from his professional order since August 2021, when he was found guilty by the disciplinary committee ofOACIQ of violation of the code of ethics of the profession following hearings on complaints about events that took place from 2014 to 2020.

The set date for his sentencing hearing is set for September 22, 2022, due to the presence of different parties involved in the filesaid ThursdayOACIQ using email.
